However, the model I use here is actually not the Campbell model but a modified version of the Vogler model.

I wasn't quite covering the Hero's Journey in this post but rather ways to get out of the "rut" of the Hero's Journey, which is why I simply gave it a brief description. I apologize if my lack of mention of a source material caused you any distress. Other than the Hero's Journey, which I repeat I assumed was general knowledge to those in the field, the rest of the post is entirely my own content (well, save for the references and such).

Thank you for your interest.Nicole Izmaylovhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11836767146190701755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2351531753304635685.post-27456528950807080212013-03-15T09:58:51.181-04:002013-03-15T09:58:51.181-04:00You totally "Saved the Cat" in a nutshel...You totally "Saved the Cat" in a nutshell! It was also called "Hero's Journey" and was first aired January 14, 2013. Perhaps, Nicole was inspired by that episode? Of course, a large part in the podcast was from Joseph Campbell, whose work they were willing to acknowledge.

I guess this is just another example that there is really little new under the sun. Maybe, it's just a coincidence and like some Chinese proverb supposedly states, "no coincidence, no story" (something I took from "This American Life").Ken Waynehttp://www.etlc.infonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2351531753304635685.post-36020296048296656972013-03-14T22:42:36.511-04:002013-03-14T22:42:36.511-04:00"So that’s the point of the Hero’s Journey if..."So that’s the point of the Hero’s Journey if it’s boring? Because it doesn’t have to be." I once read a review that said Ron Howard's "Apollo 13" is a great suspense movie, even though you KNOW it ends well. Why? Because the story is well told.

That, my friends, is the key.Michael Seesehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03694187657718931214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2351531753304635685.post-9428148083494756182013-03-14T20:15:00.140-04:002013-03-14T20:15:00.140-04:00Love the blog post, of course I would not expect a...Love the blog post, of course I would not expect anything but great info in an entertaining manner from you.mrhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18395037294071528080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2351531753304635685.post-23355602087526732802013-03-14T18:22:13.437-04:002013-03-14T18:22:13.437-04:00Thanks for a great description of the Hero's J...Thanks for a great description of the Hero's Journey. I think sometimes we don't even realize how much we follow "The Hero's Journey" when writing, it only seems the natural flow of a story.

I am planning on noting this, and hanging it in my writing area, so I can remember how to NOT write the typical hero story. :)

And on a side note, you are now my buddy, because you referenced Star Wars. :) (Yep, I'm a nerd, lol, and I love it.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18274178330113713370noreply@blogger.com
